Sharpe Architecture is a RIBA Chartered practice based in Tunbridge Wells, creating thoughtful contemporary homes across Kent, Sussex, London and the wider South East.
From sensitive alterations to listed buildings and existing homes to substantial extensions and new-build houses, we design with care, clarity and a strong understanding of context.
We explore what each home could become, starting with how people want to live and developing a clear idea to unlock its potential.
Every project is different. Some call for a confident contemporary addition, others for a series of precise changes. Each of our designs responds to the building, its setting and the people who live there.

Design, Detail & Delivery
We consider the architecture and technical design together from the outset. Structure, heating, cooling, ventilation, insulation, solar panels, rainwater management and landscape are coordinated as part of one design.
This allows the practical and environmental requirements of the building to be integrated discreetly, without interrupting the clarity of the architecture.
As a small studio, we stay closely involved at every stage. Our service can extend from the first feasibility studies and planning through detailed design, tender and construction, maintaining continuity from the initial idea through to completion.
Studio
Sharpe Architecture is led by Frances and Simon Sharpe from our studio in Tunbridge Wells.
Our work is shaped by experience in award-winning practices across residential, heritage, retrofit and community projects. We bring creative thinking and technical rigour to each commission, whether working with an existing building or designing something entirely new.
We enjoy the early ideas that can change the way a house is lived in, as well as the careful work required to carry them through.
Let’s talk about your project.
If you are planning an extension, renovation, whole-house refurbishment or new home, we would be pleased to hear from you.
Tell us a little about the property, what is not working at the moment, what you are hoping to achieve and your approximate budget.
We will let you know whether we think we can help and suggest the most sensible next step.
